- Superchain member chains (such as Base or Unichain): The greater of
- 15% of net transaction fee profit (transaction fees earned on L2 - costs paid to Ethereum L1), or
- 2.5% of gross transaction fees
- OP Mainnet: Contributes 100% of net transaction fee profit
How Revenue Is Reported
Chains pay Optimism on different timelines, so two versions of revenue are published:- Estimated Superchain Revenue: Revenue owed to Optimism based on transaction fees generated during a period (daily, monthly, etc.).
- Actual Superchain Revenue: Revenue actually paid onchain from Superchain member chains to the Optimism Collective.
- Superchain members:
max(15% x (transaction fees - Ethereum L1 costs), 2.5% x transaction fees) - OP Mainnet:
100% x (transaction fees - Ethereum L1 costs)
Tracking Payments Onchain
Superchain member chains pay Optimism in different ways. Some use automated contracts on their L2, while others withdraw to Ethereum L1 and pay from there.- Example: Base has an automated contract that sends Optimism its share every few days.
- To ensure transparency, Optimism tracks all payment addresses and publishes a consolidated log.
